The Washington Nationals could have their happiest flight home since 2019 if they win today. The Nats haven’t been at three games above the .500 mark since that legendary 2019 season. With a Curly W today, the Nats could get to that point, and with a day-off tomorrow, manager Blake Butera could really push harder than normal.

If the season ended last night, the Nats would be in the postseason. But there are still 94 games still to play entering this afternoon’s game against San Francisco.

The Nats clinched the series win last night and now have only lost two road series this entire season. But the Nats have only had one sweep, and that was against the first place Milwaukee Brewers. In fact, the Nats have now won five consecutive road series, a feat they have not done since 2014.

Washington is going with lefty Foster Griffin and San Francisco has left-hander and former Nats’ farmhand, Robbie Ray, for the season finale between these two teams.

The Nats used four relievers last night with Brad Lord going long with 57 pitches. Here is Butera’s bullpen chart:

The FanGraphs WAR chart is accumulating data. The numbers are getting very large as the season is headed towards the halfway point on June 24. The OAA defense stat is now giving us a picture of what the Nats have — and don’t have.
