This site is a new home for many of the former authors at the TalkNats site and is still very much a work in progress. There is lots to do and we wanted to go live as soon as possible. So please bear with us.
Also, an important disclaimer that this site is not affiliated with the Washington Nationals.
Why move to a subscribers only site if there is no required cost?
This is planned for the future as it will provide subscribers more options as well as give writers more options (e.g., newsletters). Once we decide on which of the subscriber plug-ins is the best fit we will detail the benefits here.
How can I help keep this site free?
The plan for now is to keep this free for everyone. Right now the new site owners have funded all the costs out of pocket. But if you want to donate, we thank you. Just click the Donate link in the upper right corner (it might be necessary to click the vertical bars to see it).
How do I submit an article for publication here?
The easiest way is to email your suggested article to steve @ talk dc sports.com (with no spaces). You will need to send that from the email address that you signed up to use with WordPress. We will send you an invite as an author which allows Steve to pick your name from the list of authors. You will also need to go to https://wordpress.com/me to enter what you want for your Display Name.
Who is the TalkDCSports user?
TalkDCSports is the overall site administrator. Steve and Don all have some admin rights on the site. But many changes require being logged in to WordPress as TalkDCSports. So if you see a comment by TalkDCSports it is either because one of us wanted it as a site administration comment or one of us was logged in to make site updates and made a comment without realizing the login was as TalkDCSports.
Where are the links to the Previous and Next Post/Article?
They were originally located below the currently displayed comments and include the title for the previous and next post/articles. We have been able to add them so they appear above the comments.
Are there plans to swtich from Disqus to wpDiscuz?
As of now, there are no such plans. But the use of Disqus long term is not a guarantee as it been considered by some as a declining product.
What post/articles from the prior site were brought over to this site?
We brought over articles dating back to January of 2019 (we could not leave the WS behind) for the following Categories/Topics: Analysis, Breaking, Feature, Nats4Good, NewsAndNotes, PointCounterPoint, Prospects, Recap, Roster and Sabermetrics. If you were author of an article in one of those categories and you don’t want it to exist here, let us know and we will remove it. Note also that we did not bring over comments from those articles.
Why do some of the articles brought over from the previous site have two images at the top of the page?
The layout of these blog page is controlled by what is called a Theme. The Theme at the prior site had a Featured Image that was displayed on the main page for the most recent articles. But it was not displayed as part of the article. The theme chosen for this site automatically includes the Featured Image at the top of the article. So articles from the prior site have the Featured Image shown first followed by the image added at the top of the article. Quite often they are the same image.
How do I get to the Nats.Talk Podcasts?
The upper right and lower left corners of the site have social media links. The YouTube link is for the podcast and opens in your current browser tab (sorry, we probably can’t change that).
