As expected, LHP Connelly Early was promoted from Triple-A Rochester to the Washington Nationals today. Early could have started today for Rochester in the Triple-A championship. But the team wanted to see Early in his debut game for the Nats — and he didn’t disappoint.
Early threw 3.0 scoreless innings giving up just one hit, no walks, and had one strikeout. He lowered his ERA on the season to 3.33 in his 18 MLB games (17 with Boston) this season.
Rochester is showing that Jack Cebert will be their starter in their Triple-A Championship game tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada between the Oklahoma City Comets (Dodgers) and the Red Wings at Las Vegas Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 10:05 pm ET and televised on MLB Network.

This start is a huge opportunity for Cebert, 24, who was drafted by the Yankees in the 15th round of the 2025 Draft, then traded to the Nationals as part of the Luis García Jr. trade this summer. This season, Cebert has a 4.03 ERA with 122 strikeouts in 109 1/3 innings across 24 games (20 starts) in his first full season.
Being this is a one-game winner-take-all game, Rochester could move pitchers in and out for optimal matchups. Manager Matt LeCroy was strategic in moves in the final semi-final playoff game against Memphis.
On our ZOOM call with LeCroy, we was specifically asked about pitching Jarlin Susana, and he said we might see him pitch today.
