With all of the breaking news this morning, here is your 2023 schedule that begins with Opening Day at Nats Park on March 30. The schedule also has 14-games against division rivals and games, either home or away, against every team in the league. The schedule also has the Little League Classic on August 20th which will be one of the highlights.

The schedule makers didn’t give the Nats some of the teams that are the big draws like the Yankees, Angels, Seattle and Astros, but the Nats do get the Red Sox and hopefully in 2024 will get home games against the Yankees, Angels, Seattle and Astros.

Of course with news of Cade Cavalli getting Friday’s night start, it is becoming clearer that Cavalli, MacKenzie Gore, Erick Fedde and Josiah Gray could be four of the five starters for next year with a big question mark around Patrick Corbin. You would hope the Nats would go after a starter for the top of the rotation, but without a direction on where the team will go with Corbin towards the close of the season it is anyone’s guess what will happen.

It became clear once again that reliever Steve Cishek won’t be long for the future plans of this team as he served up another meatball last night that turned out to be the difference on the scoreboard in a 4-2 loss. With the defense looking really solid, and the pitching responding so well to the improved defense, it comes down to controlling those home run pitches.

This is the time to assess the future of this team and getting Cavalli some starts will help towards that.

“I said that my goal is to make the Nationals the envy of sport.”

“To me, that means an organization defined by our relentless pursuit of excellence, strengthened by our connection to each other and fueled by our positive energy. As a result, we become an organization that players and staff are itching to join because they know it’s where they will develop and thrive most; a place that energizes our loyal fans and attracts new ones, and where success is achieved – and sustained – over time.”
