It’s all about the kids when the charitable goal is to raise funds to benefit children’s charities through the Rizzo Family Foundation as they held their third annual RizKids charity event at the MGM Casino in National Harbor — you know that everything will come up aces!
Front and center was Jodi Rizzo, who is the chief architect of the event. Her husband, Mike Rizzo, who was the architect of the 2019 World Series championship for the Washington Nationals, and he is hands-on with every aspect of the foundation. They are still committed to Washington, D.C. for their charitable efforts. Their mission is to enrich the lives of children and families in Washington, D.C.
That makes the MGM Casino the perfect venue as it sits several hundred yards off of the I-495 Beltway that circles Washington, D.C. Last night’s event was well-attended by Washington Nationals players, past and present, as well as hundreds of donors who were able to sign-up before it was sold-out.

It was an added bonus to see retired players like Jayson Werth, Shawn Kelley, Drew Storen, Tyler Clippard, politicians, and local VIPs as well as familiar faces. There were a bunch of current players like CJ Abrams as well as other members of the Nats’ staff and front office. From the 1991 Super Bowl Champion Washington Redskins, Brian Mitchell, was there for the event. DC United goalkeeper Alex Bono and defender Lucas Bartlett were there also.
Among the donors who helped raise more than $100,000 for the Rizzo Family Foundation, were former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, David Jones, the Founding Partner of Capitol Counsel and a Board Member of the Rizzo Foundation, and Jones fiancé Ashley Forrester, Lisa Lang of Capital Bank Home Loans, Ed Carp of Compass Real Estate, Chris Peterson, owner of Arbor Strategies in Richmond, Robert Materazzi, owner of Shelly’s Backroom in DC, Lyndon Boozer, a Partner at the lobbying firm Capitol Counsel in DC, Nick Kelly of Encore Sports and Entertainment in Del Mar, CA, Chris Lansburgh, CEO of Edgesource Corporation in Alexandria, Field of Dreams Whiskey Co., Intrepid Phoenix Capital Advisors – William Danielczyk, Donna and Mike Preston, Matthew and Lindsay Scott Family Giving Fund, Harolyn and Mike Cardozo, and Lynn Jacquez, a lobbyist at CJ Lake.
