The Washington Nationals exploded for 13-runs over their final four innings last night to stop the losing streak. Starter Cade Cavalli continued his winning ways, and tonight it is lefty Andrew Alvarez‘s turn to make this two in a row.

There were several promotions in the Nats’ minor league system today, but that did not result in any callup(s) to the Nats. However, Washington did have roster movement as their waiver claim of Matt Waldron added him onto the roster and the team DFA’d Trevor Williams.

CJ Abrams returned to the lineup yesterday, and for the second day in a row will by at the DH. When will we see Abrams back in the field? That’s a great question.

Can the Nats get on a winning streak as there are just 28 games remaining in this regular season. If they don’t, the final results might look very disappointing. To avoid a 100 loss season, the Nats need to win one more game. To avoid a 90 loss season, the Nats need to win 11 more games. And to get to a winning season, the Nats would have to go 20-8 to finish the season.

โ[CJ Abrams] is one of the best players in the league, so whenever you’re missing him, you feel it as a group. Just him being in the lineup, his presence in the lineup takes some weight off a lot of guys’ shoulders and also just makes the whole group feel good about the game.โž

On offense, the Nats have the most runs scored in MLB this season at 695 runs, and that is an impressive 5.23 runs per game. With the Nats pitching giving up 4.67 earned runs per game, the difference is really those pesky unearned runs due to the errors. Overall, the Nats have a +20 run differential on the season.

Here is manager Blake Butera‘s bullpen chart:

The FanGraphs WAR chart is now large in its sample size. You can certainly start to extrapolate the numbers for the full-season. The OAA defense stat is now giving us a picture of what the Nats have — and don’t have.

โ€œI said that my goal is to make the Nationals the envy of sport.โ€

โ€œTo me, that means an organization defined by our relentless pursuit of excellence, strengthened by our connection to each other and fueled by our positive energy. As a result, we become an organization that players and staff are itching to join because they know itโ€™s where they will develop and thrive most; a place that energizes our loyal fans and attracts new ones, and where success is achieved โ€“ and sustained โ€“ over time.โ€
