The Washington Nationals had a quick flight to San Francisco yesterday. It wasn’t a happy flight after they didn’t sweep Arizona. Because of that, the Nats begin play today back at the .500 mark.

Washington is going with Richard Lovelady as the opener with Mile Mikolas as the bulk pitcher. The Giants have righty Logan Webb on the mound as he came off of the 15-day IL last week.

Yesterday, Riley Cornelio covered 2.0 innings and Gus Varland covered 1.0 which will keep the back-end of the bullpen fresh. Even Mitchell Parker only threw 16 pitches on Saturday, and Brad Lord only 24. Here is Butera’s bullpen chart:

The FanGraphs WAR chart is accumulating data. The numbers are getting very large as the season is headed towards the halfway point on June 24. The OAA defense stat is now giving us a picture of what the Nats have — and don’t have.
